Welcome to our website.
August is here and that means pruning time for the large flowered hybrids, viticella and herbaceous varieties is just about over. Your clematis should now be showing fat buds in preparation for a burst of spring growth. Pruning should be done at the end of July in most areas of Australia. Always prune to fat buds and remove any weak growth. Late pruning will only delay flowering, so don't worry too much if you still have some to do. Don't prune any of the montana varieties or evergreens except to remove weak growth as all the flowers are already formed in the buds they have now. Click HERE if you are unsure if you have a montana growing in your garden. Clematis plants by mail are almost coming to a close for this year. The next and last dispatch date for this year is 16th August 2010.
